When the first one spanned, it was on for a while. We looked it up. It was like eight years, six years, seven years. It was something like that. And it was like late 80s through, like mid-90s. Right. [00:01:24] Speaker A: So it was 89. Okay. But let's see. I need IMDb to tell me how long it actually ran for, though. [00:01:35] Speaker B: I think it was at least six seasons. [00:01:38] Speaker A: It was a long time. Here it is, 89, 158 episodes. Yeah, it ran for eight years. [00:01:47] Speaker B: Eight years. [00:01:48] Speaker A: Eight years. [00:01:49] Speaker B: Wow. [00:01:50] Speaker A: And I mean, I just have so much nostalgia for it because there's all these, like, freakishly large people in 90s red, white, and blue uniforms. I mean, I will say I am not like a patriot. I'm not like, I'm not a patriot. I'm not. Well, I'm not like a. Yeah, Merka American. Like, I don't. I don't know. I'm not like, I don't wear my red, white and blue. [00:02:13] Speaker B: I think we have an average level of. [00:02:16] Speaker A: Yeah. Like, American existing in America. We exist in America, but I mean, this is like full. Just comical. Comical, like 80s leotards. This girl has, like, lace leotard bottoms here on. [00:02:30] Speaker B: That's such an 80s look. Every week when I was a kid, it was like, oh, I get to turn it on and watch Gladiators. [00:03:15] Speaker B: For me, it was more when it was on, I watched it. I don't really remember when it would have aired or, like, being ready for [00:03:24] Speaker A: it for that week, I think. I mean, obviously my parents were responsible for knowing when it would come on because I surely would have no idea at, like, 3, 3 and 4, you know, 3. [00:03:33] Speaker B: I'm sure you weren't watching it at 3. [00:03:34] Speaker A: I don't. I mean, it was on from when I was three. Or, Sorry, one. Until I was nine. It came on when I was a baby. [00:03:45] Speaker B: I was watching it from the crib. [00:03:46] Speaker A: And then it went on till I was nine. I'm sure. I also watched reruns. But I do distinctly remember some point in there, maybe like, seven, eight, like, being excited for new episodes of American Gladiators. [00:03:55] Speaker B: I believe that. [00:03:56] Speaker A: And my parents having to know when to turn it on for me. [00:04:01] Speaker B: So you could see Lace. [00:04:02] Speaker A: I got. Okay, here's. Here's some fun. Blaze. Bronco. [00:06:12] Speaker A: There are a lot of gladiators. They have crazy names, and, I mean, I guess as a kid, it was so absurd watching the joust. I always remembered loving the jousting where they hit each other with the sticks on the. They call it joust or whatever. [00:06:29] Speaker B: Yeah, they do call it joust, but they're pugil. [00:06:31] Speaker A: Yeah. Yes. Yeah. They call it the joust. And you're. You're, like, trying to knock the other person off the platform. I don't know. I love that. I love the hamster balls. [00:06:41] Speaker B: I mean, hamster balls are pretty. [00:06:43] Speaker A: Whoever was like, we need to put people in hamster balls and have them run around and have fun. The hamster balls are fun because it [00:06:50] Speaker B: really doesn't even make sense as it negates their bigness, doesn't it? You don't need to be, like. You need to be big enough to move the hamster ball. [00:06:58] Speaker A: But I think it's the power to, like, knock the other people around in their hamster balls. Right? They have the power. [00:07:04] Speaker B: I don't know. I don't know. I mean, I guess. I don't know. I can't say I've ever. [00:07:08] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:07:08] Speaker B: Tried a giant hamster ball out and [00:07:10] Speaker A: then, like, the classic. The one where they shoot the gun. That's the best tennis ball near whatever. [00:07:16] Speaker B: I mean, they're shooting, I think, tennis balls, but it. It just made me think Nerf. I mean, it was also the era of Nerf. [00:07:22] Speaker A: Yeah, it was good. [00:07:23] Speaker B: I had all that Nerf equipment, and it just felt like that's what I [00:07:25] Speaker A: was doing, and I, like, forgot. You, like, hit the target, and it should, like, just catapults, launches the gladiator. [00:07:31] Speaker B: This is good fun. [00:07:32] Speaker A: It's so much fun. I mean. And I remember the Eliminator back in the original show. I feel like they had to change this because it wasn't fair. Where they, like, bust through, like, papers at the end to, like, win. And some of the paper, like, they would bust through had gladiators behind it. So they got screwed, right? Like, I'm. I just busted into a human being. That's stopping me now. So I. I think they. They removed that because it seemed it wasn't. Wasn't a fair testament to like someone's ability if they're stopped by gladiator when another person had better luck and wasn't. [00:08:04] Speaker B: Yeah. It basically ended the skill based obstacle course race with a Monty. With a Monty hall problem. [00:08:12] Speaker A: Right, Exactly. [00:08:14] Speaker B: And you're just, maybe I'll get the wrong door and I'll get the donkey. [00:08:17] Speaker A: But it was really fun watching them bust through paper and like. [00:08:21] Speaker B: Yeah, except it's fucking laser and ripped me a new asshole. It's not a donkey at all. [00:08:27] Speaker A: Oh my gosh, it was so good. So. So we went after we saw this was on and we're like, we have to watch American Glass. We're both like immediately nostalgic for it. We watched the documentary they did a [00:08:39] Speaker B: few years ago that was also fun. [00:08:41] Speaker A: It was, it was. [00:08:43] Speaker B: And again, aimed at our generation. Our demo, like right at us. [00:08:47] Speaker A: Yes. [00:08:48] Speaker B: Cause it's just. Remember your childhood. Here it is in front of you. And we'll interview all the guys and girls that you knew from your childhood. [00:08:55] Speaker A: And looked up at the play footage of the gladiators. And then the new one. I like that. It just immediately it's just unhinged. Right. Like you have the crazy announcer calling himself the Miz, which I just one of them. And every time I hear them say the Miz. Mike the Miz. I'm like, okay, I'm gonna. Stop it. [00:09:16] Speaker B: Stop. [00:09:17] Speaker A: His name was Mike. [00:09:18] Speaker B: Oh, I didn't even catch that. [00:09:19] Speaker A: Mike the Miz. [00:09:21] Speaker B: He refers to himself as the Miz. I don't even remember his. I didn't even realize he said it. Actual name at any point. [00:09:27] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, Must have missed that. I think they, they introduced him as that in the beginning. And I was just like, oh, it's Mike. And that's why I remembered. And then the Miz, I would say we're equally ripped. Right. [00:09:38] Speaker B: Equally jacked. [00:09:39] Speaker A: Right. [00:09:39] Speaker B: I could see how you would get that confused. [00:09:40] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly. Totally jacked. [00:09:59] Speaker B: Yeah. And I would do it in very skimpy attire. [00:10:03] Speaker A: Well, I think they are mostly. [00:10:04] Speaker B: But I mean, even skimpy. Yeah. [00:10:06] Speaker A: Like a Speedo. [00:10:08] Speaker B: Like a banana hammock. [00:10:09] Speaker A: Okay. [00:10:10] Speaker B: So that you get it. A magic mic. [00:10:12] Speaker A: Right. Okay. So it's not so much that I'm big or ripped, it's that I'm willing to just basically nude up and get all honest. [00:10:35] Speaker A: So you're like, Steve. Oh, is that. We got the derpy, like, announcer. You got the crazy Mirka host who's just yelling at you the whole time. So it's just so much, but in such a good way. And then. And then the gladiators are kind of, like, more naked now, right? They definitely were way more covered in their spandex leotards in the 90s. [00:11:42] Speaker B: They sex them up a little bit. [00:11:43] Speaker A: Yeah, they're very, like, in bikinis now. I mean, there's this one named Crush who's like, 5 foot 5 or 5 foot 6, and almost, like, 185 pounds of just all muscle. And this. Yeah, this woman's. Her butt and her thighs are just. Just enormous. And then they, like, point it out. They're like the. One of the female announcers like, oh, your thighs are bigger than my head. They are. I mean, it's like. It's just crazy. And they're in bikinis, so you're like, look at that gladiator, like, butt, thigh situation going on there. It is massive. Yeah, she could. She could crush someone's head in between her thighs. [00:12:20] Speaker B: And here comes magic. [00:12:25] Speaker A: And I don't know, it's just. [00:12:27] Speaker B: Would be your gladiator name. [00:12:28] Speaker A: Oh, what would be my gladiator name? I feel like, oh, I'd want to be Artemis. [00:12:36] Speaker B: Artemis. [00:12:36] Speaker A: Artemis. [00:12:37] Speaker B: Okay. It's pretty good. [00:12:38] Speaker A: Because they have, like, Huntress, right? You have an artist. They've got Athena. Right. I'm like, yeah, I'd be Artemis. Definitely Artemis. Yeah, I respect that because, like, I feel like my, My. Not that I would be crazy muscle bound either, but I'm pretty agile. I feel like I did gymnastics. I feel like I'm watching, like. Oh, they need to, like, kind of get the gladiators off their balance and be like this. I feel like Artemis, the agility. Yeah, Artemis all the way. Yep. [00:13:06] Speaker B: What was the. What was the God of sexy love time? [00:13:09] Speaker A: That was Venus. Well, Aphrodite is Venus. [00:13:14] Speaker B: Okay. The new gladiators just has so much nostalgia. Because it has a lot. It's all nostalgia. [00:13:52] Speaker B: It's nostalgia porn. [00:13:53] Speaker A: Yes. That is. [00:13:54] Speaker B: I don't even mean that in a negative way in this context, because it is just fun. But it is there to be for us. [00:14:00] Speaker A: We couldn't stop watching it. We watched it through so fast, like, within two days. Just, like, sad. I have to watch this. And it's like, you. You just can't look away because it's. It's fun. It's loud. It's crazy there. It's just the nostalgia nonsense. Nostalgia porn. The nonsense. You're like, this is so good. And I don't know, there's something fun about watching people just, like, go at each other. I mean. And yeah, they do get hurt. I mean, they really do that. [00:14:26] Speaker B: I mean, that is part of the recipe. That's why Jackass is fun. It's why, I don't know, people want to see the wrecks, right? It's why people watch nascar. [00:14:37] Speaker A: I mean, it's sad because the documentary was like, well, so many people got hurt. It was such a problem. And it's still the same problem. You don't want to see people get really hurt. [00:14:49] Speaker B: Really hurt. [00:14:49] Speaker A: You want to see them, like, knock each other. [00:14:51] Speaker B: You want to see someone get a good hit in right where they're Just fine. But like, oh, wow, that person just got, you know, crushed into the wall. But yeah, the documentary was more. Was about the Gladiators, and it was more the. Like. Well, it's not that they got some specific injury necessarily. It's that they took a hundred hits, and now they're. [00:15:13] Speaker A: Yeah. Not okay. [00:15:14] Speaker B: They're not okay. [00:15:15] Speaker A: And they weren't. [00:15:15] Speaker B: And you don't see any of that on the. [00:15:17] Speaker A: Yeah, they were. They weren't unionized. They weren't paid well. It was a lot of that, too. [00:15:20] Speaker B: They didn't join the Gladiators Union of America. [00:15:23] Speaker A: Right. [00:15:25] Speaker B: Oldest union in the world, I think, all the way back to ancient Rome. Pretty sure they unionized back then. [00:15:29] Speaker A: Well, I feel like now. I mean, I guess it would be an interesting thing because I feel like they would be covered through SAG as performers, but I guess they're. A lot of them are just, like, trainers and fitness people. So they probably aren't unionized, and it just is. I'm sure. Sure it's not a union show, so I'd be curious to know. [00:15:49] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:15:49] Speaker A: I know it was a problem. And, I mean, we were watching one of the episodes, and it was just like a different girl going in the Eliminator with somebody else, and we didn't even realize at first. And I'm like, but what happened to that girl? And I had to go back and it's like, oh, she got a concussion. We're replacing her with someone else. Like, they have alternates on standby because people get hurt. [00:16:11] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:16:11] Speaker A: That aggressively. And, like, they. They, like, pay attention to who had the fastest time here, who was doing. They'll bring people back to kind of, okay, well, this person's not in it anymore. So now we have the. So there was quite a bit of injuries. [00:16:27] Speaker B: Yes. [00:16:29] Speaker A: And they. They brought back the joust. [00:16:32] Speaker B: Joust is good. Although. Well, I guess I won't say what actually happens in any of it, but let's just say the Gladiators tend to dominate that. I mean, because they get up there and they're just mountains against. The contenders are what in other. In. In any normal world would be very fit large people. And then they get up there and the Gladiators a foot and a half taller and, you know, 150 pounds heavier, full muscle, and they're not even budging. [00:17:04] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:17:05] Speaker B: They don't even move them. [00:17:06] Speaker A: No. I mean, at best, they just stay up. Right. Like. I mean, there is no, like, I'm gonna knock this guy down. [00:17:12] Speaker B: It's just I'm gonna stay here, fetal position, and just. [00:17:15] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:17:15] Speaker B: Beat for 30 seconds. [00:17:17] Speaker A: Yeah. And they have hang time, which is like, you know, where people are swinging on the. Swinging on the swings, the, like, rings, trying to get across to the other platform. They have the wall where people are climbing up the wall and the gladiators are chasing them. They had the hamster balls. I don't remember what it's called, but it was great that the girl got a concussion in the hamster ball. [00:17:38] Speaker B: God, really? [00:17:39] Speaker A: That was where she got the concussion? Yep. [00:17:42] Speaker B: Weird. [00:17:42] Speaker A: I know she, like, fell and took a spill on the hamster ball and slammed her head. [00:17:47] Speaker B: Just got to keep scurrying. [00:17:48] Speaker A: Yeah. They watch a hamster. They have like, some of the wrestling. They have, like, where they're trying to put the balls in the hoops and the gladiators are trying to stop that. It's. It's pretty much like all the classic games. The only complaint I have is they don't have the shooting. And I don't know why it is. [00:18:04] Speaker B: That is my favorite one. And it's specifically not in it. [00:18:07] Speaker A: Yeah. Is it. [00:18:08] Speaker B: Cause guns are bad now, which is fine. [00:18:12] Speaker A: I was wondering if it was, I guess, balls. Yeah. I was wondering if it was because people got hurt in it. But it doesn't seem like they get like we're watching old stuff now. And it doesn't seem like they get any more hurt by that than they do in anything else. [00:18:22] Speaker B: I would say less. [00:18:23] Speaker A: I agree. [00:18:24] Speaker B: It's just shooting tennis balls at somebody. [00:18:27] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:18:28] Speaker B: There's. The other events are literally a 300 pound, all muscle dude, just smashing into someone half their size. [00:18:38] Speaker A: Yes. [00:18:39] Speaker B: I mean, I'm sure it doesn't feel good to get hit by the tennis ball, but it's got to be no worse than a paintball. [00:18:46] Speaker A: They said 100 miles an hour. [00:18:47] Speaker B: Yeah. So, I mean, tennis balls are faster than that and they're smaller. [00:18:51] Speaker A: It's like a really hard baseball throw, but with the softer ball. [00:18:55] Speaker B: Yeah. I'm sure it doesn't feel great. [00:18:57] Speaker A: No. [00:18:57] Speaker B: But it also, I'm sure, feels way better than taking a full running tackle by a person 150 pounds heavier than you. [00:19:06] Speaker A: Yeah, that's fair. [00:19:07] Speaker B: Into a wall. [00:19:08] Speaker A: That's fair. So I don't know if. I don't know if it's the gun aspect or why, but. Yeah, it was. It was noticeably absent. And then this time around, I mean, we. We got so much joy watching the Eliminator and seeing the Travelator. So if you don't know what the Travelator is. [00:19:28] Speaker B: It's inclined treadmill. [00:19:30] Speaker A: It's an. It's a treadmill at a hefty incline. I don't remember what they said the incline. [00:19:34] Speaker B: 35 degrees. [00:19:35] Speaker A: I think it's 35 degrees. Yeah, it's a 35 degree incline treadmill coming at you. With the girls it's 8 miles an hour. With the guys it's 10. And when. And there, there is no rope for this. [00:19:49] Speaker B: I will say, I will say our girl Artemis here was offended that the girls were slower when they said that. [00:19:55] Speaker A: I was like, why are they giving us a handicap? That is unacceptable. That's not fair. [00:20:00] Speaker B: Artemis, I don't need that handicap. [00:20:02] Speaker A: But Artemis is agile and speed. Right? You don't need the handicap. [00:20:07] Speaker B: You would have been face planted on that thing all the. All day. Wow. [00:20:12] Speaker A: But so, I mean, I think we, we got at least halfway maybe. Plus through this season before we saw a single girl make it up in one attempt. I mean, it like took every single woman competitor out for most of the season. Pretty brutal. Embarrassingly sad in some of them. [00:20:33] Speaker B: There's some bad spills on that thing. [00:20:35] Speaker A: I couldn't. I mean, every person like underestimates how bad at it. And I think the reason it got better later is because then you start seeing the finalists who've already done it before and they're like, okay, now I know. Yeah, so. So no one like knows what they're getting into and they underestimate it so hard and just face plant. And some of them never get up it. I mean, it takes them like 17 tries. [00:21:34] Speaker B: Does the dad know? [00:21:35] Speaker A: Well, I would hope so. We had a whole podcast about it last week. Yeah, the guys had no trouble. Had no Trouble with the travelator at all. It was like, oh, yeah, I got it. And they did. Rarely did we see guys differently. I mean, I think it takes a lot of stamina and, like, leg strength. The girls that had more leg strength definitely did better, but I think they just were underestimating. I think it went from, like. I mean, I'm also not trying to shun anybody because by the time you get to that place, it's exhausting. Yeah. It's the last thing. It's the last big hurdle you have to go through. So people are exhausted and you see them go do all these things, and then they're just like. So it's like, had it been the first obstacle, I think everyone would have nailed it. Right? It's because it's right at the end. They're exhausted. But I think they're just also underestimating it. I really think that they're just not. They're not, like, realizing how difficult it is. And then. Then they get psyched out because we watch people, they keep trying and keep face planning. And there were. There were a solid, like, four or five people that lost because they. They just tried like six or seven times when the travelator kept face planning. And the other girl, who was a minute behind, comes out of nowhere and just kind of does it successfully. [00:22:52] Speaker B: Yeah. It was the equalizer for the. For the women competitors. [00:22:56] Speaker A: It was the women competitors. Like, you know, you're competing with the gladiators in the first several challenges to have a head start against your component because whoever has the most points, like, it breaks down to, like, a certain number of, like, seconds of a head start. And they did point out that with the men, every time the person that had the head start won. Like, it was actually really important. [00:23:16] Speaker B: Right. [00:23:17] Speaker A: For the women, it didn't matter at all because they got to the travelator and it neutralized everybody. [00:23:22] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. [00:23:24] Speaker A: I mean, what. The first one we watched, I think there was. Or. Well, the second one, it was one of the first days we were watching. There was this. This girl who was like the secretary who really just like, I felt bad because they kept saying, like, oh, it's the secretary. And she was behind, and this other girl was a beast. Like, she was, like, just plowing through everything, and she got to the travelator and ran up and just face planted a great. It was a hard spill, hard face plant at the top of it. I mean, we were like. I mean, we, like, we were, like, shocked. I mean, we gasped like, oh, my [00:24:03] Speaker B: gosh, is she okay? [00:24:05] Speaker A: And then she Got up and did it again and face planted again. And the secretary girl caught up and I think got up in one try. Not. It was two. [00:24:12] Speaker B: She got up. [00:24:13] Speaker A: I think on the first try, she just nailed it. [00:24:16] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:24:16] Speaker A: And it was like. Well, and then she won that because the other girl just could not get up it. And that was like a regular occurrence. And I'm like, man, who would have thought an or a treadmill would just take these women out? [00:24:31] Speaker B: I know. I want to see art. I want to see you do it, Artemis. [00:24:33] Speaker A: I wish, like, we gotta. We gotta find a way to do it. I used to. [00:24:36] Speaker B: I'll get a treadmill and put it at a 30. Like, I mean, I've watched enough of it now. Like. Well, the strategy is they. They hit too hard and miss you and they start to fall, and that's when you want to. You want to get them off their. Their footing. So kind of, kind of being able to dodge more than power hit them is more helpful. So that would be. My tactic is just. It's actually, like, decently hard to watch the original. Original, so. Which I'm sure we're gonna find afterwards, because now we're just in it. But. But we did find that they revived it in 2008, and I really don't remember that. I don't remember it at all. I feel like I would have been in college. I would have definitely watched that had I known it was 2008. [00:27:15] Speaker B: 2009. Right. [00:27:15] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:27:16] Speaker B: And I would have been graduating college and starting med school, so it might have just not been like, that transition period was probably, I guess, a period where I would have missed stuff like that if I wasn't, you know, but if somebody had pointed out to me I definitely watched it, so I guess I just missed it. But if the person's nice, they are very quick to be like, good game, man. And like, like, listen, friendships, which I. It's kind of good, right? Like, they'll, like, hug each other, like, oh, yeah, good game. [00:32:04] Speaker B: And I will say, it felt especially good. Now, I don't know if I'm just older and bitter. I know more bitter than I was back then. But in my personal life, the world just seems like it's become a worse place in the last 20 years as far as people giving the smallest shit about another human being. [00:32:24] Speaker A: So to see good sports, to see [00:32:26] Speaker B: two jacked guys beat the hell out of each other and then shake hands and pat each other back at the end and tell Good G some GGs. But now it's like, to see them and they're like, put on a game. But they're also easy to drop the Persona and be like, oh, good game. And, yeah, look at this guy. He's great. And you're like, okay, this is. This is good. It's nice and reassured. It makes them less frightening. Yeah, because. Because before, I just remember it being like, that person is scary. Right. And now it's like, okay, they're scary, but, like, it's fine. Like, they're support. It's like it's. It's an act, and they make it clear it's an act. And the. The. The. So the. The. They do in the 2008 one, all the same games we just talked about, and they do. They do the one with the guns. And it's so much fun to watch it, because then when someone hits the target above the gladiator, they get shot off. It's great. Go flying. [00:34:04] Speaker B: Even calling it guns is very generous. The gladiator is just shooting a tennis ball launcher. Yeah, it's just a. [00:34:11] Speaker A: That's fake. [00:34:12] Speaker B: It's a tennis ball machine, except they're aiming it. And then the thing that the contenders are firing back is a mix of stuff. The first thing's a slingshot. [00:34:21] Speaker A: First one's a slingshot. [00:34:21] Speaker B: The second one is basically also a tennis ball launcher. But they get one shot out of it. [00:34:25] Speaker A: Yes. [00:34:25] Speaker B: And then it's like a. If they hit the target, they just win. So they want to hit it, but a lot of them just speed through it because they want to, like, get through to get points by just firing everything and getting through. It was weird, like, but they jousted over a water pit, like a tank of water. And the gladiators get projected into water, and all of their wrestling is over. What? Hang time is over water. All of the games are that you could fall in are over what in the wall, too. Anything you can fall in is over water. So they were big on, like, the. Oh, but you'll just fall into water, and it'll be fine. [00:35:34] Speaker B: And maybe the cheapest place they could find, the giant pool was a pool. And they're like, what are we gonna. The only. The pool is in our budget. We'll just put out all above water. [00:35:46] Speaker A: Yeah, I think that's probably what happens. Definitely. Definitely. And the. The eliminator. So we went into this eliminator having not watched the old One again, this nostalgia one yet. And having just watched the new one and the 2008 one was way more true to the Eliminator. The original one, there was no, like, surprise gladiator, but they. [00:36:08] Speaker B: They Monty hall gladiator style at the end. [00:36:11] Speaker A: But it had water. Like, it was weird that they added water, but it had like, you know, at the very beginning, the. They had to like, dive into a thing of water and go under fire, which that was just like, okay, you guys just like water in this for some reason. We're just gonna go to the pool. I think we have to use this. [00:36:28] Speaker B: Make use of this bull. [00:36:29] Speaker A: But it had like the. The hand crank. Like, what is that thing called? Like, the. Yeah, it's like a weird hand crank that you have to move across a rope on. And it looks exhausting. [00:36:39] Speaker B: Yeah, it looks awful. [00:36:40] Speaker A: That one. That one in particular was all upper body strength. Like every. Every beginning obstacle is just upper body strength and looks painful. And that one, I was like, oh, I remember. And it has the. It has the balls they hug onto. These are not. In the new ones. [00:36:54] Speaker B: The rolling. The barrel. [00:36:56] Speaker A: The barrel roll. Yeah. Where you just hang on to it and it rolls them down and they just flop off. And. And then of course, it's interesting because they have the weird, like, rope. What's the. [00:37:07] Speaker B: The cargo net. [00:37:07] Speaker A: Cargo net that you climb up. And in the new one, they're sharing a cargo net. So that makes it more difficult because you're going fighting against someone else's weight pulling at it. [00:37:16] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:37:16] Speaker A: In this and the other one they have. And then they have the zip line, [00:37:22] Speaker B: which also just looks fun. [00:37:23] Speaker A: Yeah. And then a balance beam. Like it. Like a lot of the stuff is the same, but. So the travelator and this. I can't wait to go back and look at the old travelator. I need to know. But the travelator and this version was worse for the guys and not the girls. It was the opposite. It was insane. [00:37:40] Speaker B: Struggled so hard. [00:37:43] Speaker A: And it's. It's at more of an incline. It's like a 45 degree. [00:37:47] Speaker B: It's a much steeper incline. [00:37:48] Speaker A: It's a much steeper incline. [00:37:48] Speaker B: But it has a rope halfway. [00:37:50] Speaker A: It has a rope. So if you can make it up halfway, you can hang on. You're semi pulling yourself quickly so you can use your arms for it. And the girls pretty much every time, like, you know, everyone. Like everyone falls periodically, but the girls are like, oh, if I can make it to the rope, I'll grab the rope and pull myself up. And they Nail it. The guys try to dive at the rope. [00:38:11] Speaker B: It really felt like the girls got some kind of lesson or tutorial in it ahead of time that the guys just missed. Because the girls run at it. [00:38:24] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:38:24] Speaker B: Like you would. [00:38:25] Speaker A: Like you should do. Yeah. [00:38:26] Speaker B: And try to get half, like, halfway up to the rope and then grab the rope and then help pull themselves up the rest way and never really break stride. [00:38:34] Speaker A: Yeah. The guys, they belly flop out. [00:38:37] Speaker B: They basically take a running start and dive for it. And they're like. And then they're. They're even the few that get a hold of it, they're like, dragging belly, like, down on the thing, and it's just. [00:38:48] Speaker A: And then they have to let go. [00:38:49] Speaker B: It looks so painful. [00:38:52] Speaker A: And I mean. I mean, I will say, like, I'm just a spectator here, but I'm watching it. Like, what would compel them to belly flop at it? I just don't understand why you would dive at it. It's clear in my mind. You want to climb up this thing, Right. So you want to run up, grab the rope, and climb. It just makes sense to me. I don't know why every guy wants to belly flop on it. And that's what they do. [00:39:14] Speaker B: They do notably worse. [00:39:16] Speaker A: Yes. They were so much worse. So I'm like, it's really funny that you take it at 45 degree angle and add a rope, and the guy sucks to shit the bed, but then you make it slightly, like, less inclined and take the rope out and the guy shuts down. [00:39:29] Speaker B: And the girl shit the bed. [00:39:30] Speaker A: And the girl shit the bed. I don't know what it is. It's psychologically fascinating to. [00:40:28] Speaker A: And then we were trying to get one of the gladiators. I know shouldn't be the gladiators. So we'd love to do some more follow ups on it. And the fact that it's now on its second reboot and it's still just as weird and sane as ERA was just great. [00:40:51] Speaker A: It's also, it's mindless but fun. And in this the best way. Like you can just put it on and be like, I'm gonna have a relaxing weekend and eat some junk and be in bed and just watch total nonsense. [00:41:05] Speaker B: I'm. But this just, it just hits it for some reason. It's just so absurd. It's the absurdity in it that just makes it so. [00:41:28] Speaker B: The events are absurd and the gladiators are absurd in a great, in a purposeful, great way. And yeah, that's what makes it great. I mean, even like what made the original great. Yeah, that's, that's what, that's, that's the magic sauce there. [00:41:43] Speaker A: And we're watching season one. They introduce these new gladiators that no one ever knows. And the, they have the audience just decked out with giant faces of the bull. And who's the, who's your boy? [00:41:55] Speaker B: Steel. [00:41:56] Speaker A: Steel. Oh my God. Steel. Steel is the best steel. And you're like, well, obviously production just printed out giant heads and handed them to people and said, you're rooting for steel. Especially for the first season where it's all good people. I mean, how would you. You wouldn't have any idea who to cheer for. But I'm sure there are points put into it seemed like there were sections like this section is rooting for steel and this is, you know, bull section. And yeah, they had giant printouts of these people. And remember, eagle is a guy and there was someone. There was a. There's a full eagle person. Anyways, it's got to be medieval time style, right? [00:46:22] Speaker A: I'm going to be singing. I'm going to be doing a short presentation as well, so that'll be really fun. And we get to go on a fun Niagara Falls boat ride with our buddy Brian Dunning and Kenny Biddle. And it's going to be good. I mean, we haven't seen these people in two years because they didn't do Sakon last year. So it'll be really exciting to get to see everybody. And it just. We had so much fun last time. So. We're hoping to maybe do some side excursions for a day or two while we're up there to find some weirdness. [00:46:52] Speaker A: We're trying to stay till Wednesday to do some weird stuff in Buffalo for [00:46:56] Speaker B: season and some season three Season three footage. And I was like, sure, I'd love that. And it went from that to like, oh, just come to some of this speakings and some of the conferences and stuff. It'll be interesting. It turned from that into. And we have a press trip right afterwards. So I'll be going to Colonial Williamsburg. [00:47:45] Speaker B: Yes. [00:47:46] Speaker A: For four days. It's weird. It's so weird. And I'm excited because we're gonna do, like, the full Williamsburg experience. I've never actually done Colonial Williamsburg. [00:47:54] Speaker B: Really. [00:47:54] Speaker A: I know. So I was like, well, this feels appropriate. I've lived an hour away my whole life. I definitely need to do this. And Jamestown. I love Jamestown. [00:48:03] Speaker B: Yeah, Jamestown. [00:48:03] Speaker A: Jamestown's weird. So. So I got really into the story of, like, the real story of Pocahontas for a while. I know. You know, so that'll be good. So I'm excited. So we have that and then. Yeah. And then Mass and Nuttin in July. We have a lot of good stuff coming up. So right now we're taking it easy and enjoying our gladiators. [00:48:21] Speaker B: Yes. Yes. It was a good weekend with gladiators. And I'm prepping her for the final Jackass movie. [00:48:29] Speaker A: Yep. That was our Mother's Day. It was just like. It was just like, you know, we have a nice, relaxed weekend to ourselves. Circumstantially. [00:48:37] Speaker B: You got your nice date night. [00:48:39] Speaker A: I know. We went to Melting Pot.
