[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign. [00:00:06] Speaker B: Hello everyone. Welcome back to Mallory's Weird World Adventures, the podcast. I'm your host, Mallory and I'm here to show you just how weird this world of ours really is. I am very excited because today we are going to prep you up a little bit for the countdown for the release of Weird World Adventures Season 2 on Amazon Prime. This episode will be talking about and kind of highlighting and teasing you for the episode in which we go to Iceland to hunt for mythical elves. When we were in Reyevik, we met with Magnus, who is the owner and headmaster of the elf school in Reyevik, who is a very eccentric and exciting person. And he wanted to tell us all about elves. Why Icelandic people believe in elves, why some of them do. And he told us some interesting facts about elves and how to find them and some stories that people had firsthand about elves in Iceland. So you know me, I love discovering new exciting folklore. I love hearing about belief systems. So we spoke to Magnus about all things elves and I wanted to take a little. It actually is quite a bit of a chunk here. But you wouldn't believe how many hours our interview went for. So I wanted to give you some special behind the scenes interview, a little preview. Some of this stuff will be used for Weird World in season two and some of it will not. So please listen in, enjoy and get a special sneak peek of Weird World Adventures Season 2 for the Iceland episode. [00:01:46] Speaker A: Should you watch the camera or you? [00:01:47] Speaker C: You can talk to me. [00:01:50] Speaker A: Michael is much more handsome. Michael, this is a wrong statement. [00:02:00] Speaker C: No, no. [00:02:03] Speaker A: Dear audience, we have this very handsome female reporter here and then this horrible male that is holding the camera. I'll take a picture of them and show you. Take three. My name is Magnus Karpianson. I'm 70 years old, historian from the Icelandic University. 40 years ago. I'm the headmaster of the Elvis school and I'm also the leader of the spiritual organization of Reykjavik. And I'm also one of the leaders of the Paranormal foundation of Iceland. We have done lot of researches in paranormal things. Life after death, out of body experience, ghosts, elves and hidden people, aliens and many things. One of the most interesting thing we feel we have done researches on the last 50 years is elves and hidden people. They're very big part in Iceland culture and Iceland history. I have never seen elves or hidden people myself, but I'm convinced they do exist. I met more than 500 Icelanders and 200 foreigners that have seen elves and hidden people. Wow, it's really a privilege meeting these people. They normally stare in Your eyes. And I wasn't drunk and I'm not insane. And I'm not schizophrenia. This happened to me. You must believe me. And I really do believe them. Elves are very important in ICELAND. Very special. Two things are more special than others about elves. First, majority of the nation, 54% believe that elves, hidden people do exist. Secondly, we have the hidden people, which almost all nations had before. And hardly no one has anymore. Hidden people are elves, but they are human sized elves. We have 17 or 18 or 19 types of elves in Iceland. Small, smallest of them is flower elf. 2 or 3 cm smallest of them. 2 or 3 types of them up to 12 cm. They live in and on. Flowers jump from one leaf to another. Always in a good mood, always laughing and having a fun. We have two types of tree elves. They are from 10cm up to 20 or 25cm. We have seven or eight or nine types of what Icelanders call elves. What we could say would be nature elves. Elves live out in the nature. Most of them they are from 20cm up to 40 or 50 or even 60cm. What you would call fairies and light fairies and dwarves and gnomes. And then we have the biggest of these, smaller else is house elves. They are from 50 or 60 centimeters up to 70 or 80 or even 90 centimeters. Even a meter. And then we have the hidden people. 3 Type of hidden people. They are totally human sized. Human body, human culture, human clothes, human language, human lingual language. And they speak Icelandic. If I would be really honest and tell you, we know a lot about elves. A lot. Much more things we don't know. These 700 people, 500 Icelanders and 200 foreigners. They have only one thing in common. They are psychic. They have that sixth sense that is normally the eyewitnesses. Everybody is little psychic. Some are much more psychic than others. That is normal. The all witnesses. Some are in fact so over psychic they almost can't live this life here. They're always in two or more worlds. I know four or five present living Icelanders. They are convinced that elves and hidden people saved their lives. This was much more in the in the old time. But this is still in today. When Icelands were working from one farm to another. They got lost in crazy weather. If the hidden people knew them before, they sometimes found them, took them to their home, hosted them, gave them dry clothes, cooked a warm meal for them. And they stayed there until they could leave the home in a good condition. There are reasons, historical reasons, why Icelanders have so many elves and believe so much in it. If you would go downtown in Reykjavik and ask people on the street, Icelanders, do you believe in elves? Since 54% believe, every other would say yes and every other would say no. If you ask him, why do you believe in elves? Many or most of the answers will be something like this. Because my grandma told me when she was young she played with elf kids and hidden people kids. He told me and my sisters and brothers many times. Many times in details. One thing is for sure, my grandma would never have made up this story if it wouldn't be true. [00:07:17] Speaker C: To hear how I guess how you would go about if you wanted to see an elf. Like how you couldn't. I know you can't make it happen, but like what the conditions, best conditions might be. Or if there's a mindset or state of mind. [00:07:31] Speaker A: Dear audience, we want to see elves. The first and the best rule is to donate thousand dollars to the old school and then you might see them. We cannot sure that, but it helps. If you want to see elf first, that's almost a must. You have to be psychic or you will not see them. Secondly, you must be on the right spot where they are. They don't live in cities normally, not in villages or towns. They say it's much more too much energy, pollution. And thirdly, be on the right time. Good summer, good weather. There are some places in Eichelin more attached to health and other places. Yes, if you are psychic or not psychic, you go to these places. And best of you would stay there and live there. You would end up seeing them if you would be psychic. No doubt about that. You want to hear one historical fact? [00:08:48] Speaker C: Sure. [00:08:51] Speaker A: Then I'll talk about life after death after that. Nice to meet you. I'm looking forward to all this fame and wealth you promised me. You like what I'm saying, Michael? I do. Why? [00:09:08] Speaker C: It's fascinating. [00:09:11] Speaker A: You don't meet weird interview persons like me. [00:09:16] Speaker C: We meet weird people pretty often, but that's our specialty. It shows weird world adventures. [00:09:23] Speaker A: That's why you came here? [00:09:24] Speaker C: Yep. [00:09:28] Speaker A: There is hardly any doubt in my mind that helps to exist. Meeting these hundreds of witnesses is a really privilege. And these people normally stare in your eyes. You must believe me. This happened to me and I. I was not drunk and I was not on drugs, you know, and. And I'm not schizophrenia. It's just happened to me. And you know, very few people believe me. One story happened. 1964 in high north Iceland in Skyville County. 14 years old boy was sent by his parents to the to another farm in the countryside. This was in the countryside. This was first week of January. 4:00 clock in the afternoon, totally dark. We have very short daylight. Late December, beginning of January. It's nearly three or four hours when it is shortest. But we have the midnight sun instead. Late June and beginning of July. For four or five weeks the sun shines 24, 7, never leaves the horizon. I remember when I was four or five years old, my mom said to me, mahmoud, you have to go to bed. It's close to midnight. Can't be, mom. The sun is shining, but it is still midnight. Mother of this boy, Tosted Nelson said to him, Dear Thed, will you take us to the Stephan family? I was making some food for us. I made some extra food for the Steppen family. Stephan's family was young, coupled with lot of babies. Five or six or seven babies. Almost had a baby every year. They never had enough food for all the kids. Never did enough, enough clothes for them. Never had enough of nothing. Neighbors were very good to them, giving them food and clothes and cookies and things they needed. Yes, Thed was more than ready to walk with Stephan family with his food. It was about an hour walk, hour and a half. Very good weather. Totally dark, 10cm high snow outside. The stars were on the sky and the moon was shining. Perfect weather. Tausit was tall, muscular, clever, self secure boy. And he really loved walking in the nature. Yes, he was ready to walk in the nature. And he started walking. But when he was about half of the way they came. Bad weather, wind and drizzle and more wind and more drizzle. The drizzle changed into snow. Ended up in a snow storm. Blowing, snowing, freezing. Got cold, 8 or 10 degrees minus Celsius. The view was about a meter or two. He hardly could see the ground. And he got lost. He told me later on, Magnus, I must have walked in circles because I didn't find the road, didn't find any barns or stables, no farms or nothing. Six or seven hours later he was just about giving up. Freezing to death. Cold, tired, afraid, hungry. Just before he gave up, he saw a small farm, rather small farm, but they were lighting the windows. He came to the farm and knocked on the door. A man opened the door. Can I come in? I'm lost. I'm totally lost. I'm freezing to death. Yes, come in, said the man, opened the door and the boy came in. And the man shut the door. The boy took his jacket off. He could stand by itself on the floor, it was so frozen. The man called his wife and she came with his two babies they had. When the lady saw this cold and wet boy, he went into the sleeping room and got dry clothes and gave the boy dry clothes. But when the boy saw these clothes, he had never seen clothes like this before. Made of wool, very thick, very wide. And the pants were up to here. I think that would suit Michael very well when he will go next to the discotech. Don't you think so, Michael? [00:14:03] Speaker C: Yes. [00:14:04] Speaker A: You would never hustle your handsome wife in this clothes. He had never seen this clothes before. He looked on the people. You all dressed in these clothes. And he remembered. Yes. He had seen these clothes once before on a folklore museum. Two, three and four hundred years ago. He looked around in the farm. It was so unupdated. Homemade furnitures. He was amazed he didn't know the people. He knew all people in Sky County. Where am I? I can't be in Sky County. Must have walked into Hunas Isla County. Qu There? My husband is from there. Or into a Sisla County. No, no. We are in sky county, said the man. Can't be. I know all the people there. Who are you? My name is Margaret, said the lady. My name is Gunna, said the man. Oh, there's no couple with that name in Scar County. Oh yes. Oh yes. Oh, what farm is this here? This is. There's no farm with that name in SK. Oh yes. We forgot to tell you. We are what you call elves or Hidden People. But we are not Hidden people. You are our hidden people. This boy had heard dozens and hundreds of elf stories. Good and bad. Better not mix up with these people. He jumped out. Didn't want to mix up with them. When he came out. Then he remembered the bad weather. She had to come in again, apologize. The people just smiled. You don't have to be afraid of us. We will not do you any harm. Don't worry. Don't worry at all. They cooked a meal for him. Very good warm meal. And these dry clothes. They gave him just what he needed. Foster told me. I was convinced this was no hidden People. Or else these were humans. Totally humans. Unupdated. But that's another thing. Physically, 100% humans. When he was finishing the meal, the lady said to him, hey, mister, it'll be crazy weather all night. It will be good weather in the morning. You should stay here during the night. We have an extra bed and bedroom. Will be very crazy weather all night. Good weather in the morning. Yes. He liked that you were tired. And he told me, Magnus, when I laid down in the bed, and put the blanket over me. I fell asleep within a minute. I felt so secure with these people. Very kind and helpful people. He noticed one thing. In the storage of this elf farm There were four or five saddlees for horse riding hanging there. He was quite familiar with horses and settlers. He checked the settler. The funny thing was they were updated, totally modern. Everything except the stair up where you put your feet. That was a little deeper. So the better for the shoes. More comfortable and wider sort of security. If you would fall down with the horse, you would never be stuck in the stair up. So the horse would never drag you around. He remembered this 42 years later. 2006 the old school is in a street called Sidumuli here in Reykjavik. Down the hill is next street Aurumuli. In the middle of that street was a storage until just few years ago the horseman Hestermotheren. They advertised 2006 brand new saddles is imported from Canada with a brand new stirrup technique. Come and see. He was very curious. He was very familiar with horses and saddleses. He went in the store. As soon as he came in the store he saw this stirrup. It was totally the same he had seen with the elves. When he was 14 years old, he came to the owner of the store. Hey mister. This is nothing new. I've seen this long time ago. 40 years ago. 42 years ago. That's impossible, Mr. Said the owner of the store. This is a brand new design and a brand new production from Canada. No, no, no, no. I've seen this long time ago. Then the man in the store said, I see you mister. His voice changed after that. Nice to meet you. Very nice. I hope you have a good recovery. He thought he was insane. Mon, this is the last person I will ever tell. People don't believe you anymore. We are getting like other countries. Nobody believes in elves or hidden people.
